Next Wikibooks Community Meeting

Mike.lifeguard has taken the opportunity to schedule a new Wikibooks Community Meeting, since the last one was such a success. The next meeting will be at:

Thursday, 9 April 2009
21:00 UTC
#Wikibooks on

All are welcome to attend. Mike has set up a planning/agenda page at Meta, so everybody can see what kinds of things we want to talk about.

  1. Sorry, can't make it tomorrow. Here's my opinion on some of the topics:

    — FlaggedRevs: the simpler the better; most importantly: is a page free of vandalism? Potential vandals should not be allowed to review pages; thus, it should not be possible to become editor without a substantial effort.

    — collections extension: works about as bad as five months ago (printing of images just doesn't work well). I assume that the problems are known, but there seems to be a lack of resources or interest to fix them.

    — engaging other books projects online: sounds great but IMHO what is really needed is a better understanding of why authors don't bring their projects to wikibooks (e.g., technical limitations of wikitext vs. Word/LaTeX; limited protection against incompetent (or malevolent) coauthors; etc.)
